Consumer Products, Games and Publishing Intern
June - August 2021 • Glendale, CA
What I liked
I loved how welcoming the employees of The Walt Disney Company were to interns. They were sure to let us know that anything we as interns needed, they would help or find someone who could.
What I wish was different
I wish I got to experience the internship in person rather than virtually, although the program was still amazing!
Advice
It is important to practice great time management skills when completing an internship. There are numerous events and networking workshops/opportunities that take place throughout the summer, so when you have a tight deadline you may have to put your foot down and make sure you meet that deadline even if it means missing one of those events.

Vacation Planner
February - March 2020 • Orlando, FL
What I liked
I loved the benefits you get as a Cast Member such as admission to the parks and admission to fun events specifically for Cast Members. It was also super fun meeting so many different people from all over the world from guests to your own co-workers. It also felt like an actual family, one of the most enjoyable jobs that I've held.
What I wish was different
Had the pandemic not happened, I would have stayed longer but Disney World shut down and the program has been suspended until further notice.
Advice
Every Disney College Program is different and what you make of it. There are youtube vlogs and blogs you can read and watch about but don't expect so much because depending on your role it can really change your views, experience, etc. But live it in its moment and do what you want during your program, don't wait.

June 2019 • Lake Buena Vista, FL
What I liked
I love the work I do, greeting guests, assisting them in the park with directions, chatting about their experiences and backgrounds, and helping to resolve unsatisfactory situations they’ve experienced.
What I wish was different
I wish the pay was higher and the living the company provides wasn’t taken out of our pay check. For the work we do, we come away with very little in our pockets.
Advice
Plan a very strict budget and stick to it if you care at all about taking away savings!

Food and beverage intern
January - March 2020 • Orlando, FL
What I liked
There was so much hands on experience and training that really taught me so much about this industry. You’re held to such a high standard, so you really learn how to work in an environment like this. I loved getting to talk with guests everyday and learn more about them.
What I wish was different
If I ever had an issue or something of that matter, it was extremely hard to get it resolved by management themselves... you had to sometimes go to an outside resource depending on the issue.
Advice
There are times where it can be tough, but don’t let it get to you. Sometimes there are long, draining shifts, but that is part of any job and at the end of the day it taught me so much and I’m so grateful for the experience.

Imagineering Project Management Intern
January - June 2019 • Orlando, FL
What I liked
The company is fantastic to work for. The people are amazing and you are inspired every single day. The pride everyone has to work at Disney is nearly tangible. It was exciting to get up every day and say, "I'm an Imagineer!"
What I wish was different
The work I did was not as technically challenging as what I've done in other roles. I felt like they didn't give their interns as much responsibility as other positions, BUT I still left with relevant work experience and stronger PM skills.
Advice
Finding an "in" is not easy. So many people apply to these positions that it's important to try and make a connection and not just send an application. I recommend using LinkedIn and connecting with current employees. Ask questions about what they do- People tend to be willing to talk about their jobs and then they may notice you or have a position in mind that you would be great for.
