Gallery Assistant Internship

Compound Yellow has been operating as an experimental cultural space since 2016 and has been a registered non-profit since 2018.

This fall we have a cutaor in resdiency, Ciera Mckissick AMFM who will be curating two exhibtions. We will also have a Multipe Goods Fair in October, a pre-holiday arts and crafts fair, and we will be working on our fall fundraising, grant writing and Giving Tuesday campaign for next year.

We have 3 distinct spaces: a studio/workshop space, an exhibition space, and an experimental small space with built in modular shelving for appropriate types of work (booklets, zines, posters and other possibilities). We also have a fairly large storage space. All of these spaces require some maintenance and an intern would gain experience in assisting to maintain and prepare these spaces for exhibitions, workshops and other events.

There are opportunities to learn about how we program and promote our exhibitions and events, fundraising for small non-profits, grant writing and event planning. Internships could include (depending on skills): Writing/editing (for PR and exhibition descriptions) and writing for and posting to social media (Instagram, Facebook). Graphic design experience and website development or maintenance would be valuable - currently CY uses Squarespace. Sometimes designing posters and other print material depending on the exhibition or event. People skills: ie, greeting the public, helping prepare for openings and attending openings, attending some CY meetings, etc.

Join our fun and creative team!
We look forward to meeting with you soon!
