Social Media Intern

Function  
The Social Media intern will help build and launch the social media presence for a high-profile social justice initiative. The intern will help reach and activate consumers through social media channels, managing the campaign’s social media presence and spearheading content creation.

The selected candidate will gain experience working with a highly credentialed advertising agency, as well as PR and media agencies, learning the makings of a 360 owned-paid-earned media approach firsthand.

This is a remote and paid 6-month internship, with anticipated 10-12 hours a week for the first month (onboarding and supporting social media strategy), ramping up to 17-20 hours a week once the platforms go live. To be considered for the position, please submit a cover letter along with samples of your work, demonstrating the ability to successfully navigate the social media space through design and copywriting. This can be a formal portfolio or case studies (if available), short writing samples, or even a collection of screengrabs from your own social media pages.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DELIVERABLES
A.   Developing Creative Social Media Content (60%)
·      Build and scale community/followers on each channel
·      Design and write engaging and highly shareable copy for posts for each channel
·      Manage community engagement and respond to questions
·      Targeted outreach to influencers through social media
B.   Supporting Social Media Strategist in strategic development (25%)
·      Create and refine ‘brand’/campaign voice and personality
·      Work with Social Media Strategist and Campaign Manager to Identify most relevant social platforms for engagement and unique engagement approaches for each channel
·      Build content calendar for key timeframes (first 30 days, days 30-60, etc.)
·      Work with Social Media Strategist and Campaign Manager to identify KPIs
·      Strategize community building on channel
·      Produce weekly analytics reports
C.   Assist with campaign research and outreach needs (10%)
D.   Perform other job-related duties as required (5%)

Minimum Requirements
Marketing, Media, or Communications focus of study, experience regularly creating and posting on social media (this can be your personal accounts, if there has been proven engagement success), digitally savvy.

Preferred Requirements
Senior year undergrade or graduate student, experience in lifestyle brand building, moderate level of graphic design skills
