Volunteer Engagement and Partnerships Manager

Position Description

Recruiting, engaging and managing excellent volunteers is crucial to the success of the ANY Program. The Volunteer Manager will create a rewarding volunteer experience both nationally and locally. As New York is our largest region, the responsibilities of the position include both national and New York program tasks. The Volunteer Manager will serve as the national lead for volunteer recruitment, developing strategy, planning events and liaising with recruitment chairs from Associate Boards. Locally, the Volunteer Manager will be in charge of communicating with all potential volunteers and will work closely with the rest of the New York Team to coordinate volunteer roles at workshops and other events, including career seminars, panels and celebrations. In addition, the Volunteer Manager will manage the Associate Board in New York, a volunteer-led group that works to support ANY in a variety of ways including fundraising and volunteer recruitment. The Manager will collaborate with the External Affairs team to support alumni initiatives, including but not limited to Mentor Coach Alumni participation in workshops and social and fundraising events.
The ideal candidate will display meticulous attention to detail, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be highly-organized. They will enjoy engaging external stakeholders, multi-tasking, event planning and collaborating with a team. We are looking for a strong and charismatic communicator, someone who will harness the energy and spirit of our volunteers (highly accomplished young professionals) to create impact for the students we serve. As ANY workshops are held on Saturdays and recruitment events may occur in the evenings, this position will require flexibility and willingness to work nontraditional work hours


Responsibilities

National Volunteer Lead (30%)
  • Recruit 500+ volunteers annually (200 to serve as New York Mentor Coaches)
  • Develop a national recruitment map/pipeline plan that contains best practices and timelines to ensure alignment across all markets
  • Research national service and professional affinity groups to strengthen volunteer pipelines
  • Host a series of national volunteer recruitment events to include information sessions, career roundtables, and other engagement events
  • Develop and execute a standard stewardship plan to ensure volunteers receive high quality customer service and timely communications from point of entry to end of service (inclusive of info sessions, events, and short-and long-term volunteer commitments)
  • Manage Zengine, ANY’s centralized volunteer portal (both logistics and volunteer communications)
  • Develop and execute a robust volunteer training program – with an emphasis on student support, inclusion, and equity
  • Collaborate with National internships lead ensure targets are met for partner career days and internship applications
  • Work with Chief External Affairs Officer to develop a robust volunteer engagement strategy for student and volunteer alumni
  • Work with Chief External Affairs Officer to develop robust volunteer recruitment marketing materials; collaborate with the External Affairs team on robust volunteer recruitment communications campaigns
  • Inspire high levels of volunteer engagement by providing a best in class volunteer experience
New York Volunteer Management (50%)
  • Manage the recruitment and selection of 200 diverse and accomplished industry professionals to sign-on for a two-year commitment to serve as a New York Mentor Coach
  • Recruit and manage additional local volunteers and alumni (such as panelists and guest speakers) as needed
  • Serve as staff liaison to New York Associate Board, supporting their $100K+ revenue goal through fundraising events (digital fundraisers, Giving Tuesday campaigns, holiday giving, National Mentor Month campaigns, and more) for the
  • Support ANY’s career development workshop logistics in New York
  • Maintain up to date volunteer information in Salesforce
  • Additional projects and duties as assigned
Partnerships (20%)
  • In collaboration with the Chief External Affairs Officer and local site leadership, identify a robust corporate partnership prospect list from short-term volunteer and Mentor Coach employer companies
  • Identify and meet with 10+ new prospective companies quarterly
  • Host highly customized engagement events with ANY’s 15 national partners

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years working with volunteers
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent people management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to problem solve and effectively lead difficult conversations 
  • Impeccable attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing a high volume of communications
  • Strong public speaker, comfortable delivering program content and representing the organization to internal and external audiences
  • High level of energy, proactivity and commitment
  • Strong interest in and willingness to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Data-driven and systems-oriented (Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Microsoft Excel, required and experience with Salesforce preferred)

Starting salary for this position is in the mid $50k range, commensurate with experience.
