Editor, Financial Services (Content Marketing)

Overview
The Editor is an experienced content creator and content strategist, with proven success across multiple platforms: print, digital, video, podcast and/or social. Highly skilled in short- and long-form writing, and comfortable doing both big-picture reads and detailed line editing on complex (i.e., financial, business and technical) topics, the Editor will also conceptualize story ideas and assist with content marketing program management and client communications for at least two financial services accounts, helping to make sure the content we create meets our clients’ goals.
 
At Imagination, we develop content that meets the needs of the audiences our clients are trying to reach. In this position, based in the Chicago office, you will work with a team of content editors, freelance writers, and agency strategy, social, and development teams to produce strategic, high-quality content, often on a short turnaround time. The right person for this position is comfortable writing and editing content that supports client business and marketing objectives while also communicating with clients and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced agency environment. Financial services content experience is strongly preferred.

About You
  • Have 3–7 years of editorial experience
  • Have 1–3 years content marketing and agency experience
  • Have 1–3 years of client relationship management experience
  • Financial services content creation experience preferred
  • Strategic problem solver
  • Highly organized, with strong project management skills
  • Clear, effective communicator—verbally and in writing—with the ability to be persuasive without being pushy
  • Comfortable interacting with clients and collaborating to solve problems
  • Strong knowledge across content types and channels
  • Strong writing and editing skills, and the ability to ask big-picture questions

Specific Responsibilities 
  • Manage a high volume of copy for several platforms and/or sites, and keep a detailed record of copy coming in from various freelancers and in-house writers
  • Lead editing process for various publications or projects, shifting seamlessly between big-picture and copy edits
  • Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and develop story ideas and editorial calendars that meet client needs
  • Research complex subjects (i.e., financial services topics, market trends) and write copy tailored to a target audience and the chosen platform
  • Collaborate with content, digital and video teams to write and edit copy for web, video and social media projects as needed
  • Calmly and diligently juggle multiple, results-oriented initiatives under tight turnarounds
