2021 Summer Government Affairs Intern

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS  
You may only submit one internship application per term. Applicants submitting more than one application per term will not be considered. If you have a strong interest in multiple teams, you may indicate your alternate team preferences later in the application. Please note that selecting multiple teams does not increase your likelihood of being selected for an internship. 
  
POSITION OVERVIEW  
The government affairs team is the Partnership’s voice on Capitol Hill, working to advance the organization’s good government agenda by building bridges of understanding between federal agencies and Congress, advocating for a modernization of America’s civil service system and sharing the Partnership’s work with committees, members and their staff. Interns will follow Hill activity related to our core initiatives of civil service modernization and help deliver content with the goal of improving understanding between branches of government.  
Interns will also assist with our project to strengthen congressional resiliency and restore Congress as a co-equal branch of government. Government Affairs interns will have the opportunity to become more informed about the legislative process and practices of the federal government.  
The ideal candidate will have strong communication, teamwork and time management skills, flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and a commitment to public service.
  
REPORTING STRUCTURE  
This position typically reports to a manager or associate manager.  
  
WORK ENVIRONMENT  
This job operates in a professional office environment in Washington, DC. This position requires consistent use of office equipment such as computer, telephone, printer and scanner. Please note that as a result of COVID-19, Partnership staff are currently working remotely. 

  
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK  
Business hours are Monday-Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, though exact work hours may vary depending on availability and need. Academic schedules will be accommodated; a part-time schedule may be considered. There may be occasional early morning or evening activities required.
  
TRAVEL  
If travel occurs, it is local and during the business day.
