60 Second Docs - Official Selections Intern

*This is a remote summer internship that will operate on West Coast hours (9-6 PST)
Are you obsessed with unique stories? Are you drawn to unusual people and why they do what they do? Are your friends rolling their eyes at how frequently you send them weird content?

60 Second Docs is the internet’s most successful documentary series, and among the fastest-growing content producers for newsworthy and shareable videos. With over 700 episodes averaging 9.6 million views per video and over 7 billion views in total, we are transforming how the world discovers and promotes unexpected, subversive stories told in the documentary format.

The Official Selection campaign is the licensing of outstanding films and documentaries that weren’t made by us – 60 Second Docs seeks to give a broader audience to these filmmakers on our media platforms.

We are seeking to add a talented intern to work on Official Selection in a very fast-paced work environment. We are looking for someone who craves learning new skills and won’t be afraid to go the extra mile to tackle stories. As an intern, you will get to work closely with the 60 Second Docs team while working on real projects that reach and touch the masses.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is inherently curious. Someone who is obsessed with news and people in all their forms - someone who is creative, inventive and thoughtful. We thrive when we have all kinds of stories! All personal and academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply, no previous experience in journalism or entertainment necessary.

Duties:

  1. Research, research, research.
  2. Understand and develop a keen eye for stories that fit the tone of 60 Second Docs.
  3. Watch and source documentaries from all over the internet that fit our brand.
  4. Pursue these incredible stories. Contact filmmakers and facilitate licensing agreements.
  5. Basically, you get to watch films all day and choose which ones to amplify to a following of 10 million people.

Qualifications:

  1. Passion for stories about people, psychology, and behavioral deviation.
  2. A fast learner. Proactive and self-motivated.
  3. Superior and succinct communication skills! Every video we make tells a compelling story in just one minute – can you tell one in even less time?
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office and G-Suite.
  5. Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
  6. Creative and flexible.
  7. Familiarity with social networking sites (we publish on FB, YT, IG, Snap, Twitter, Tik Tok and research on these, and then some).
  8. Curiosity and draw to investigative journalism.
  9. Interest in documentary storytelling!
