Content Development, Marketing Intern – SDG Academy

About the Sustainable Development Solutions Network
The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has been operating since 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. We aim to accelerate joint learning and promote integrated approaches that address the interconnected economic, social, and environmental challenges confronting the world. The SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society.

About the SDG Academy
The SDG Academy is the flagship education initiative of the SDSN, with the mandate of creating and curating the best available online educational content on sustainable development and making it available as a global public good. The Academy brings together the world’s foremost experts on sustainable development, from fields as varied as early childhood development, public health, food systems, and macroeconomics – to offer a comprehensive core curriculum around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), equipping the next generation of sustainable development practitioners to take on the complex challenges facing our planet. The SDG Academy is hosted by the SDSN Association, a 501(c) 3 organization based in New York.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The SDG Academy is seeking a Content Development, Marketing Intern to support our platforms and technologies. This role requires someone who is passionate about using web-based technology to deliver programs and can support the management of our online courses, web development, design, video editing, and other day-to-day technical aspects of the SDG Academy’s work. The desired candidate will also have experience with Google Analytics. You will play a key role as part of a small team, traditionally based in New York but presently operating across the Eastern Time zone. Our team values proactivity, creative thinking, and flexibility to meet our ambitious goals. You will have the opportunity to contribute to building and enhancing our content and platforms, as well as develop networks of engagement across our diverse pool of learners. The position requires 20 hours/week. Candidates must have prior legal authorization to work in the U.S. and will be expected to adhere to Eastern Time (ET) working hours.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Work with the communications team to develop a marketing strategy to grow specific social media accounts and general reach of content
  • Oversee Google Analytics, website metrics, media library metrics, and social media metrics to track marketing progress
  • Video editing to develop marketable microcontent
  • Support website management and editing via WordPress
  • Help with technical elements and course questions in edX
  • Support with course buildings and course management on edX
  • Coordinate the publication of our 2022 Annual Report
  • Manage general email accounts
  • Support translation initiatives for course materials
  • Manage the outreach, editing, formatting, and uploading of video transcripts Secondary responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot processes and document all new protocols
  • Additional requests made by the SDG Academy team or SDSN colleagues

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Agile Learning
  • Creativity
  • Attention to detail
  • Tact and thoughtfulness when dealing with both internal and external partners
  • Project management skills and experiences with WordPress
  • Experience working with design systems such as Canva, Adobe, or comparable; Google Analytics; YouTube Creator Studio; edX; Google Office Suite; Adobe Softwares Preferred characteristics:
  • Experience and functional knowledge of the software and systems described above
  • Early career professional or recent graduate looking to begin a career in sustainable development/ sustainability
  • Remote work experience and confidence to be a self-starter
