Associate Director, Internal Communications (R-004299)

Job Description:
Corporate Communications is responsible for planning and implementing proactive communications on major initiatives; working to promote positive, accurate and fair media coverage of FINRA; and promoting an engaged and well-informed workforce, among other activities. The Associate Director, Internal Communications supports the Vice President of Internal Communications in efforts to support, engage, inspire and motivate FINRA employees through the creation and implementation of powerful, meaningful, and helpful communications programs.
 
Essential Job Functions:
·      Plans, develops, and implements communications across various media for major strategic initiatives and corporate-wide communications. Provides expert communications counsel to and develops communications plans for senior management and internal colleagues to accomplish business goals. Ensures consistent strategic messaging in all communications.
·      Leads and manages high-profile and often complex communications projects aimed at an employee audience.
·      Serves as strategic partner and provides communications counsel to department/business unit leaders and senior executives. Recommends appropriate strategies and tactics to achieve business goals/objectives, consistent with best practices. Maintains regular contact with business leads to proactively mine for opportunities that support overall communication and messaging strategy.
·      Plans and manages strategic corporate communications projects. Works with a high level of independence to conduct research, produce outlines/drafts, coordinate feedback and finalize communications, which may include employee news/intranet pages, emails, brochures, videos, podcasts, talking points, articles/blogs, social media posts and other forms of communication. Authors emails and other material on behalf of senior management.
·      Adapts materials for delivery in different media (print, digital, broadcast). Develops and manages range of projects and tracking and meeting deadlines. Proactively evaluates and recommends enhancements to existing material as well as year-over-year initiatives.
·      Actively collaborates and cultivates relationships with senior executives. Stays abreast of relevant issues as well as communications trends to help ensure effectiveness of each project or campaign.

Education/Experience Requirements:
·      B.S. or B.A. in journalism, English or related field, and minimum eight years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
·      preferably with Knowledge of the financial and/or securities industry experience preferred.
·      Demonstrated superior writing, editing, presentation and interpersonal communications skills.
·      Strong organizational and project management skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively, work multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments.
·      Ability to convey complex information in clear, engaging ways.
·      Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
·      Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/MS Office Suite applications.
·      Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
·      Ability to exercise careful judgment and discretion with respect to strategic and confidential material.
·      Familiarity with AP style desirable.
·      Experience working on diversity, equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives and/or Employee Resource Groups (ERG) preferred.
