IT Helpdesk Summer Intern

We seek a IT Helpdesk Intern who is interested in gaining experience helping maintain the day-to-day operations of our information systems by resolving user hardware, software, networking, and related problems and providing staff with appropriate training and instruction under the guidance of the IT Team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an energetic, committed, and motivated individual seeking to learn more about Information Technology and the integral impact it can have within a company.
 
This paid internship is expected to begin sometime in June and last approximately three months with the opportunity to extend the internship beyond this initial length of time if there is continued work. During the summer, it is expected interns will work fulltime (up to 32-40 hours/week). If the internship extends beyond summer, there is an option to waive time to accommodate school schedules This internship is primarily a remote position, but the intern will be expected to travel to the DC office on an as needed basis.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Assists user community in software, hardware, and network problem resolution. 
  • Installs, tests, and maintains a variety of personal computing software systems, in a hybrid remote working scenario
  • Replaces hardware or software as needed
  • Logs calls and takes appropriate action to ensure a satisfactory response within acceptable time frames for the user community
  • Keeps computer inventory system updated
  • Updates support and process documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Either A+ certification, or equivalent combination of training and technical experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with a diverse group of staff
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to track tasks, communicate status, and work under deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and through presentations to non-technical audiences, including teaching staff

The ideal candidate would have the following but is not required:

  • Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a undergraduate program for Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • 6 months hands-on troubleshooting experience on Windows and Office365
  • Experience with PC hardware repair and maintenance
  • Experience with online-meeting and desktop imaging software

Hourly Rate: $17
