About Us: The Inter-Agency Task Force on Israeli Arab Issues (IATF) is an educational organization serving the North American Jewish community with non-partisan resources and programs about Arab citizens and Jewish-Arab relations in Israel. IATF programs promote American Jewish discourse and engagement that is informed by the complex realities surrounding these issues and aligned with social and economic developments on the ground.
 
About You: IATF seeks a mission-driven communications professional to expand and improve the visibility and impact of our digital footprint and outgoing materials (newsletters, emails, publications). This position is a combination of strategy development and content production, with opportunities for growth. The Communications Associate will work closely with IATF’s executive director, issue experts and programming staff to bring insights about Arab citizens of Israel into American Jewish organizations’ awareness and discourse. The ideal candidate is creative and nuanced, disciplined and professional, and passionate about these issues. They will promote IATF’s non-partisan brand and resources to strengthen the connection between American Jewish leaders and professionals and the field.

What will you do as Communications Associate?
  • Work with executive director to develop and implement IATF’s communications strategy
  • Develop and produce publications (newsletter, annual reports, articles, and briefing papers)
  • Redesign, improve, and update IATF’s website
  • Assist and collaborate with team on educational resource production
  • Additional writing as relevant
 
What qualifications are required to be our Communications Associate?
  • Experience in developing and producing professional organizational communications
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with sensitivity to nuance, complexity, and cross-cultural communication
  • Proficiency with website management, basic graphic design, basic video and audio editing, email applications (Canva, Vertical Response, WordPress, iMovie, Adobe Suite, or equivalents)
  • Experience with issues related to Arab citizens and Jewish-Arab relations in Israel 
  • Knowledge of the American Jewish community and American Jewish organizations
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills 
  • Identification with IATF’s mission and educational approach
  • Hebrew proficiency
  • Ability to read words and numbers, operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment, and communicate in person or over the telephone
 
Additional Preferred Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficiency in Arabic a strong plus
  • Writing experience spanning media, newsletters, podcasts, educational content, and/or reports a plus
 
Additional Details
  • Employment Type: Full Time
  • Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:45 AM – 4:45PM with a 1-hour lunch break; some flexibility required. This role will require occasional work on evenings and weekends for special events. It may also involve 1-3 trips to different Jewish communities in the U.S and Israel yearly.
  • Location: Hybrid from New York, NY; Tuesdays and Thursdays in-office.

What are the compensation and benefits for a Communications Associate?
This a full-time position paid semi-monthly at a salary of $65,000-$75,000 per year; in determining where a candidate falls in that range JDC considers several factors, including skills and experience, internal equity, and cost of living in location of work. This role is exempt per the FLSA.

Vaccination Requirement
We require that individuals who travel internationally on JDC’s behalf be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the CDC definition. Established in 2006 by leaders of major Jewish organizations*.
