Literary Internship

JOB TITLE: Literary Internship- 2 Positions
REPORTS TO: Resident Dramaturg
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
INTERNSHIP DATES: May 15- Aug 18
HOURLY RATE: $16/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Excellent research, writing and proof-reading skills are essential, and applicants must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of contemporary theater, theater history and playwriting. Applicants should have an interest in pursuing a career in dramaturgy, playwriting, directing, and/or producing and should have excellent people skills. 

  • Conduct research for plays in production and under consideration, as well as for articles and program notes.
  • Assist with the solicitation, cataloging and evaluation of new manuscripts, as well as with correspondence to playwrights, agents, theaters and play development programs.
  • Serve as a production assistant for readings; assist casting and producing departments as needed; attend artistic staff meetings.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Eighteen years of age or older and able to take direction and criticism constructively.
  • Strong ability to digest new information quickly and apply it productively.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Must be comfortable in highly collaborative environments. 

TIME COMMITMENT:
Maximum of 30 hours/week; Between Mondays and Fridays, 9am – 5:30pm; plus frequent evening and/or weekend assignments. The specific days/hours will be discussed and determined by each department during the interview process.

The Goodman requires proof of full vaccination including booster. New employees who are not fully vaccinated as of the date of hire are required to be fully vaccinated within 45 days of hire and provide twice-weekly proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to being fully vaccinated.
