Foster Care Licensing Worker

About the Job

Responsibilities:
  • Recruit new foster care homes by attending events, taking phone calls, talking with referrals, and/or presenting speeches to raise awareness of the benefits of being a foster care home and the need for foster parents
  • Evaluate potential foster parents and coordinate licensing and compliance with DCFS Rule and Procedures 402 for eligible applicants
  • Assist relative or fictive foster parents with DCFS licensure
  • Complete home studies and provide foster parents with individual and group trainings
  • Monitor and supervise foster care homes to ensure understanding of and compliance with strength based, family centered, trauma informed, culturally sensitive foster parenting
  • Complete license investigations
  • Assist in finding the most appropriate foster home for a youth in care
  • Support foster parents through support groups and foster parent advisory boards to create foster parent networks and community awareness
  • Arrange respite for foster parents as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited graduate institution in social work or a closely related human service field (Required)
  • Prior child welfare experience (Preferred)
  • Must possess interpersonal, communication, time management, multitasking, computer, and teamwork skills.
  • Must pass a DCFS background check
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, obtain an insured vehicle, clean driving record, and three years driving record with a valid driver's license
