Residential Counselor- 2nd Shift Position

About the Job

Responsibilities:
  • Interact with all residents; assist them in completing the daily routine.
  • Execute disciplinary action when necessary, in strict accordance with agency and DCFS licensing regulations.
  • Complete assigned duties relative to hall functioning and ensure residents' adherence to all residential facility rules and regulations.
  • Provide transportation as needed to activities, appointments, visits, etc.
  • Document all services delivered each shift to comply with agency, state, and federal regulations and requirements.
  • Attend staff meetings, give input into the decision making process, regarding case management and goal setting for individual cases.
  • Meet program needs and staffing mandates by working flexible schedules as requested.
  • Supervise visits between residents and the family of origin, as necessary.
  • Complete necessary paperwork to track progress and plan for achievement of established goals by end of each shift.
  • Dispense all medications and treatments to residents in strict accordance with all medical protocols.
  • Demonstrate understanding and adherence to client confidentiality.
  • Use of personal cell phones, pagers, etc is prohibited while on duty. These items are not to be on staff. The agency is not responsible for any damage to these items.
  • Eat meals in the dining room area with the residents. Set example by getting a tray with everything that is served to the residents. No outside drinks (i.e. soda) or food are allowed in the dining room area during the resident's meal times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • HS diploma, with relevant experience with youth and families (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in human services (Preferred)
  • Pass written and physical competency test on Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training and implement these methods into the work setting.
  • Completion of DCFS criminal background check (Required)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, obtain an insured vehicle, clean driving record, and three years driving record with a valid driver's license
