Studio Tech Intern Fall Semester

SNY is an Emmy Award winning, multiplatform regional sports network serving millions of homes throughout the New York Metropolitan area and across the country through unparalleled and exclusive coverage of the New York Mets, New York Jets, UConn women’s basketball and all things New York sports.

The Tech Ops Internship is intended to provide an undergraduate level student with hands-on experience in multi-platform technical areas in Broadcast Operations. The candidate will be assisting Tech Managers and Studio Technicians in the daily operations of the studio/control room environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in accomplishing the responsibilities of “on-air” technical operations.
  • Observe and learn specific duties connected to various types of equipment systems.
  • Shadow staff and freelance employees as they operate those various systems.
  • Learn to support and perform other daily related duties at SNY as needed.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proactively seeks solutions and implements effective strategies to resolve technical or logistical challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Rising Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree majoring in Media or Television Production.
  • Completion or enrollment in college-level production courses or equivalent training: proficiency in operating video switchers, audio consoles, and digital playback systems. Experience with pedestal camera operation. Strong understanding of shot composition principles.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for broadcasting, capable of multitasking
  • Solid verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to learn new digital technologies.
  • Experience with non-linear newsroom systems (EMPS/iNews) a plus.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by SNY.
  • Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.

Location & Time Commitment: 

This role is onsite at our New York City, NY office, requiring a commitment of a minimum of 16 hours weekly, including occasional shifts on nights and weekends.

Additional Information:

The hourly rate for this student internship is $16.00.
