Video Production Fellow

About Us

The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) and the ELM Action Fund are committed to advocating for policy and building political power, respectively, in Massachusetts to meet the scale and urgency of our environmental challenges.

Background

ELM seeks a Fellow with strong video production skills and an interest in filming, editing, and producing short-form video content. The fellow will need easy access to their own or their school’s equipment (hardware and editing software) as ELM will not be able to provide it for them.

This position will report to Bianca Pokrzywa, Digital Communications Coordinator, and be a part of the Positioning Team. Additional tasks may be assigned by other Positioning Team members.

Tasks

  • Build ELM’s video marketing library
    • Lead the production of short testimonials about ELM and the ELM Action Fund, including from politicians, donors, nonprofit partners
    • Build video content promoting our endorsed candidates in the 2024 election cycle
    • Collaborate with staff to prepare interview questions and facilitate interviews
    • Film and edit testimonials
    • Collaborate with staff to receive and incorporate feedback
  • Additional Videography and Photography
    • Capture video and/or photos at ELM and ELM Action Fund events, as needed. (Likely 2-3 times a month, with appropriate advance notice.)
    • Collect relevant b-roll of staff, political campaigning, clean energy, public transit, the Boston area, and more
    • Edit event video and photos
    • Create short background videos for ELM’s websites (Find examples here.)

Preferred Skills

Competitive candidates will have experience with all stages of video production, including filming, editing, and directing. We seek a fellow who will take initiative during the production process. Interest in political, environmental, or documentary-style film is a plus.

While environmental experience is not required, we do seek someone compelled by ELM’s purpose to secure the health and wellbeing of the environment and of future generations.

Terms

$18/hour

The fellow’s hours are expected to be 3-5 hours/week, depending on production schedules.

Location: This position can mostly operate remotely, but the fellow will be expected to film in-person events, interviews, and b-roll primarily in Boston.

Term: The Fellowship will run from late May/early June until late August. Start and end dates are flexible. The position can also be extended into the next session if both parties feel that it was a good fit.
